Tigra is a U.S. Air Force veteran whose path has taken her from military service to nearly two decades as a river guide and outdoor professional. Along the way, she’s traveled extensively, worked in the outdoor and festival industries, and built a life centered around adventure, community, and service. Anyone who has spent time guiding knows the routine. After seeing that challenge day after day, Tigra stopped accepting it as just another part of outdoor life. Instead, she began thinking about a better solution.

“The hardest part was learning everything the hard way,” she shared.

That willingness to keep learning has helped Helpful Handle continue to grow.

Recently, Helpful Handle gained national attention after one of Tigra’s Instagram videos reached more than 100,000 views, introducing thousands of new people to the product. She also earned second place in the DAV Patriot Boot Camp pitch competition, an accomplishment that validated years of persistence and hard work.

Today, Tigra’s vision extends well beyond creating a useful product. She hopes to see Helpful Handle carried in outdoor retailers, hardware stores, and shops across the country while staying true to the mission that inspired the company from the beginning.

One of her long-term goals is to continue giving back to the outdoor community that has given so much to her. Through Helpful Handle, she has pledged to donate 90 percent of the company’s profits to organizations supporting environmental conservation, river stewardship, Indigenous communities, veterans, outdoor access, and holistic wellness.

“Helpful Handle was born from the outdoors, so I want its success to feed back into the places and communities that shaped me.”

When asked what advice she would offer someone hoping to start a business in the outdoor industry, her answer reflected the same mindset that inspired Helpful Handle in the first place.

“Start with a real problem you understand deeply.”
